Latisse is a topical medication, available by prescription, for the treatment of insufficient eyelash growth or hypotrichosis (abnormal or patchy hair growth). The active ingredient in Latisse, bimatoprost, is similar to a natural substance produced by the body and has been used to treat glaucoma for many years. The FDA expanded approval of bimatoprost in 2008 for treatment of hypotrichosis and it continues to be the only approved medication for this purpose. Riverview Facial Plastic Surgery offers Latisse to our patients searching for thicker, longer eyelashes through a topical solution that can be used in the comfort and privacy of their own home.

How does Latisse Work?

Latisse is applied to the lash line of the upper eyelid daily, using a special applicator included with the medication. Most patients will begin to see results within six to eight weeks with results continuing as long as the medication is used. If the medication is stopped, eyelashes will likely return to their original state over time.
