Your eyebrows are the main point of expression during our lifetime. No matter what language you speak or sign, the eyebrows indicate whether something is a question, you’re angry, confused or surprised. With these elaborate facial expressions and squinting, comes the wrinkles and sagging of the brow. At Riverview, we recommend the brow lift procedure for those of you experiencing the sagging of brows causing you to look agitated or tired all the time.

What is a brow lift?

A brow lift, or forehead lift, is designed to smooth away signs of aging from the upper face to give you a refreshed appearance. The procedure addresses skin sagging as well as facial creases that commonly appear on the forehead and between the eyebrows. A brow lift is customized to the specific needs of each patient, from those with extensive signs of aging needing a full brow lift, to those with early aging symptoms. All upper facial concerns can be effectively addressed with a less invasive endoscopic procedure.

Why consider a brow lift?

Dr. Schneider performs brow lifts to address the following concerns:

  • Sagging skin that gives you a perpetually worn or tired appearance
  • Sagging brow line due to sagging lids and small deposits of fat

A brow lift is frequently combined with eyelid surgery to provide a more refreshed appearance to the entire upper portion of the face. A brow lift can dramatically improve the look of your face overall. No longer will you look tired, angry or unapproachable. Dr. Schneider may recommend a brow lift be paired eyelid surgery or with a facelift to compliment and complete dramatic anti-aging results.

A brow lift offers dramatic anti-aging results with relatively little discomfort and downtime involved. To learn more about this cosmetic procedure, contact us at Riverview Facial Plastic Surgery.

How does a brow lift procedure work?

A brow lift may be performed using local or intravenous sedation, depending on the specific techniques utilized during the procedure. Endoscopic brow lifts are usually recommended for patients with mild signs of aging and involve very small incisions and special tools to elevate skin and correct the underlying facial muscles and tissue. Full brow lifts require larger incisions along the hairline, which can then be used to remove larger amounts of skin and lift the entire brow area for a smoother look.

What is recovery like?

There is typically some bruising and swelling after a brow lift, which can be managed with cold compresses and oral pain medication. You will likely need to rest with your head in an elevated position to minimize swelling and promote faster healing. Most patients are pleasantly surprised with the low level of discomfort after a brow lift and are able to return to work and other normal activities in about one to two weeks.

What can I expect from my brow lift results?

Because bruising and swelling are typically minimal after a brow lift, patients will begin to see positive results from their procedure within a few days. The forehead area will appear smoother and the brow line may be naturally raised, giving you a refreshed, well-rested appearance. These results are long-lasting.
