Hi! I’m Jessica! A 36-year-old wife and mother to a very on the go 3-year-old boy. I’m a fitness enthusiast and nutrition nut who enjoys traveling to all places tropical and loves a challenge! I have competed in figure competitions in the past and am currently preparing to compete in the Mrs. MN America Pageant in June 2019! As I prepare for my pageant I will be following a carb cycling diet and eliminating all sugars to get my body healthy and pageant ready! Clean Start Weight Loss

What is Carb Cycling?

Carb cycling is an eating plan that manipulates caloric intake by alternating high-carb, low-carb, and no carb days. There are many variations to this approach. You can adjust your carb intake to fit your specific needs depending on what your goals are. My goal is to reduce body fat. I am currently at 18.7%. I will start with a carb cycle of:

  • High carb
  • Low carb
  • No carb
  • Repeat

My biggest workout days (HIIT and lower body weight training) will be on high carb days and fasted steady state cardio will be on my no carb days. This way my body is getting the nutrition it needs, when it needs it most!

What Foods & Drinks Can You Consume on this Diet?

All clean, one ingredient foods. No sugar and no dairy. Here is a list of foods and beverages that are in my typical diet and I stick to mostly organic:

Chicken breast, extra lean turkey burger, eggs, egg whites, tilapia, asparagus, spinach, bell peppers, onions, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, grapefruit, rolled oats, brown rice, puffed rice, puffed kamut, sweet potato, peanut butter (no sugar added), avocado, almonds, walnuts, olive oil, egg white protein powder.

Beverages: Coffee (I love iced coffee and drink lots of it), unsweetened tea, unsweetened almond milk and of course, lots and lots of water.  For a sweetener, I use stevia.

I’m off to my first week of carb cycling. The first 2 weeks are usually the hardest as my body adapts to fewer carbs! Here I go……!!
