Not all doctors are created equal. Every physician has his or her own personality and approach to treatment, and finding the right fit is essential to a good doctor-patient relationship. But what if you find that you and your physician are incompatible? In this article we will talk about what to do if you are unsatisfied with your current physician.
When Doctors and Patients Butt Heads
There are several
reasons why a patient may not get along with a physician. Here are a few
- The patient disagrees with the physician on a treatment
- The doctor “pushes” a treatment on the patient that
they don’t want.
- The doctor’s personality does not mesh well with the
These are just a few of
the many reasons why a doctor and patient may not get along. Sometimes these
issues can be resolved through frank communication. But other times, there is
nothing to be done but move on.
How to Find a New Provider
If you find yourself at
an impasse and simply cannot continue visiting your current physician, it’s
time to make a change. Simply explain the situation to your physician and tell
them that you will be seeing another doctor. Once that’s taken care of, the
next step is finding a new physician that will be a good fit for you. Take to
the web and do some research on doctors in your area. See how other patients
rate them. You can also ask your friends and family members to see if they have
anyone they could recommend. Once you find a doctor, make an appointment with
them and explain your situation so that you can avoid repeating history.

Plastic surgery can benefit patients of all backgrounds and of most ages. But the types of procedures patients get is highly dependent on their age. In this article, we are going to talk about some common plastic surgery procedures by age range.
Patients in their Teens (13 – 19)
Teenagers are typically not good candidates for plastic surgery procedures as their bodies are still changing while they go through puberty. However, one notable exception is the rhinoplasty procedure. Rhinoplasty is the most common plastic surgery procedure in patients aged 13-19. This is because the nose is already fully formed at this age and won’t change as a result of puberty.
Patients in their 20s-30s
While many patients still are not seeing any significant signs of aging in their 20s-30s, the body typically begins to slow down – making it harder to keep weight off. This makes CoolSculpting and other non-invasive techniques a popular choice for patients this age.
Patients in their 40s-50s
This is the age at which many patients begin to see noticeable signs of aging that can decrease self-confidence. Blepharoplasty is the most common procedure among patients in their 40s-50s. This procedure lifts the eyelids and prevents the patient from appearing tired or worn out.
Patients Over 55
At this age, the body has naturally worn down significantly due to natural wear-and-tear. Patients often have deep facial wrinkles, sagging and drooping, and jowls. As a result, a full facelift is one of the most common procedures among patients of this age.

Blepharoplasty (eyelid lift surgery) can help resolve a number of cosmetic facial issues, but many patients are not even aware of it as an option. In this article, we are going to offer three reasons why a blepharoplasty may be a good option for you.
You’ve Perpetually Got Bags Under Your Eyes
Having puffy lower eyelids (or “bags” under your eyes) can make you look constantly tired – even when you’re fully rested. These are often caused by cosmetic factors that can’t be resolved simply by getting more sleep. Blepharoplasty can clear up these puffy lower eyelids and remove the bags under your eyes so you look as well-rested as you feel!
Your Upper Eyelids are Interfering with Your Vision
Droopy upper eyelids can severely impact your line of vision. This can be annoying at best and downright dangerous at worst. Everyday activities like driving can become extremely dangerous when your vision is impaired by your eyelids. Undergoing a blepharoplasty eyelid life procedure can restore your drooping eyelids back to normal and improve your vision as a result!
Your Eyelids Start “Disappearing”
Disappearing upper eyelids can make it extremely difficult to apply makeup. Blepharoplasty is a great treatment option to restore your eyelids to their natural state.

Blepharoplasty (or eyelid rejuvenation) is a common facial plastic procedure in which the patient’s eyelids are restored to a more youthful appearance. This article is all about blepharoplasty – what it is, what it can treat, and who is a good candidate for the procedure.
What Blepharoplasty can Treat
Blepharoplasty can be helpful in treating any and all of the following conditions:
- Sagging or loose skin around the eyes.
- Bags under the eyes.
- Puffy eyes (due to fatty deposits).
- Drooping lower eyelids.
- Excess skin around the eyes.
Am I a Good Candidate for Blepharoplasty?
A blepharoplasty procedure can help you look and feel younger. Unfortunately, not every patient will qualify as a good candidate for the procedure. You may be a good candidate for blepharoplasty if you meet the following criteria:
- Generally healthy, with no conditions that may impair healing.
- No serious eye conditions.
Of course, the best way to determine whether or not blepharoplasty is right for you is to consult with a facial plastic surgeon who can examine your situation and recommend treatment options tailored specifically to you. Even if your surgeon determines that you are not a good candidate for blepharoplasty, there are other non-surgical treatments that may be a better fit.

Two of the most common facial plastic procedures are the brow lift and the eyelid lift. While these procedures can often accomplish similar goals, there are some marked differences that patients should be aware of when making a decision about their surgery. In this article, we are going about the similarities and differences between the brow lift and eyelid lift procedures and when to choose each.
Brow Lift Surgery
Brow lift surgery is a facial plastic procedure in which the skin above the eyelid (the brow) is raised to reshape the arch of the brow. This procedure is often helpful for patients who are experiencing sagging skin in the area, or wrinkles.
Eyelid Lift Surgery
Eyelid lift surgery (also known as blepharoplasty) is a facial plastic procedure in which excess skin on the patient’s eyelid is peeled back in order to open the eyes and give a more youthful appearance.
Choosing A Procedure
Choosing which procedure is best for you requires the help of a skilled facial plastic surgeon who can examine your condition and walk you through your best options. You may also benefit from having both an eyelid lift and an eyebrow lift procedure at the same time.

Chin implant surgery is a relatively common facial plastic procedure that is often combined with a rhinoplasty procedure to achieve the patient’s desired look. The ultimate goal of a chin augmentation is to bring greater balance to the face by elongate the jawline and balance the proportions of the patient’s face. But when it comes to chin implants, there are several options to choose from – each with their own benefits. In this article, we are going to talk about the most common types of chin implants used in facial plastic surgery.
Silicone Chin Implants
Silicone implants are the most common type used in chin augmentation surgery. These implants offer great flexibility and can be tailored to each patient’s needs. Silicone implants also offer the most natural looking results compared to other implants, so long as they are implanted properly.
Gore-Tex Chin Implants
Gore-Tex chin implants, made from polytetrafluoroethylene, are stabilized into the bone using titanium screws. As a result, these implants are more permanent and sturdier than silicone implants. The material is porous, so the surrounding tissue and jawbone will grow into the implant over time.
Medpor Chin Implants
Medpor chin implants are made from polyethylene and are similar to the Gore-Tex implants. The biggest difference is that Medpor implants are not quite as flexible as Gore-Tex implants.

What you do (or don’t do) after a facelift procedure can have a big impact on the lasting results of the procedure. This is something a lot of patients don’t think about. In this article, we are going to offer up a few tips for protecting the results of your facelift in the months and years following your procedure.
Protect Yourself from the Sun
Most people are aware of the dangers of skin cancer, but what many don’t realize is that overexposure to the sun’s UV rays can accelerate the signs of aging (like wrinkles, sagging, and fine lines). Make sure to avoid deliberate tanning and wear sunscreen when you’re out in the sun to prevent these effects.
Choose a Board-Certified Surgeon
The first, and perhaps most important, decision you can make to improve the longevity of your facelift if to choose a board-certified facial plastic surgeon. Having a skilled and experienced facelift surgeon will ensure that your facelift results last for a long time.
Watch What You Eat
Eating a balanced diet has a huge positive impact on the look and feel of your skin. Eliminating sugar and junk food, and focusing on vegetables, whole grains, and fruits can benefit your face as well as your overall health.

If you’re searching for a facial plastic surgeon, there are many options available to you – so much so that it can be difficult to make a good decision about your care. In this article, we are going to explain a few red flags to look out for when choosing a facial plastic surgeon.
It’s important to find a facial plastic surgeon who is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Board-certification means that the surgeon has a minimum of 6 years of surgical training (with 2-3 years focused on plastic surgery specifically), and has passed additional oral and written examinations.
Lack of Communication
Your facial plastic surgeon should be able to communicate well with you and ask a lot of questions about your situation, your cosmetic goals, and more. If your surgeon is not communicating well or asking you any questions, that’s a red flag.
No Facility Accreditation
Make sure that your surgeon’s operating facility is properly accredited. This ensures that they are following the proper safety and equipment standards and that the staff is all properly credentialed.
An Uncomfortable Feeling
If your gut is telling you not to move forward with a particular surgeon or you just have an uncomfortable feeling, you should probably listen to yourself.

The facelift is a popular plastic surgery procedure today. But that wasn’t always the case. In this article, we are going to offer up a brief history of facelift surgery from the very first procedure performed all the way to today.
Early Facial Plastic Procedures
In 1901, Dr. Eugen Hollander performed the first facial cosmetic procedure by removing excess tissue from a patient’s face to reduce wrinkles. However, this procedure didn’t involve “lifting” so it was not technically a facelift procedure.
The first modern facelift procedure on record was performed in 1916 by a German surgeon named Dr. Erich Lexer who went on to author numerous medical textbooks outlining various cosmetic procedures.
During World War I, Dr. Johannes Esser pioneered a skin grafting technique (that is still used to this day in facial procedures) to help wounded soldiers.
The Modern Facelift
In the 1970s the Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System (SMAS) was introduced, which focused on using the patient’s underlying muscular structure to provide the required suspension.
Over the next several decades, techniques continued to be refined and advanced to provide patients more customizable and natural facelift solutions.
